2025 TENNESSEE DUAL (WOMEN)
Stanford Women take on Tennessee in its spring-racing season opener.
RESULTS
This past weekend, Stanford Rowing made a strong statement as the #2 Stanford Women traveled to Oak Ridge, TN, for their season opener against the #3 University of Tennessee. It was a beautiful race day, with negligible wind and perfect water conditions—a big bonus after traveling so far in early spring.
The Women fielded two 8s (1V8, 2V8) and two 4s (1V4, 2V4), and the results reflected the hard work put in during winter training. After some scrimmage pieces with Tennessee on Friday evening, the racing got underway Saturday morning. Despite dealing with a few lineup changes due to illness, which even included some port/starboard swaps, the athletes stepped up to the challenge.
The 1V8+ made a strong opening season statement, finishing with a time of 6:17.28, ahead of Tennessee’s 6:26.37, earning them the official ACC varsity eight of the week honors. The 2V8+ also impressed, clocking in at 6:26.65 against Tennessee’s 6:30.91.
The 1V4+ had a particularly gutsy race, coming from behind after the first 500 meters to take the lead and eventually finish at 7:14.87, just ahead of Tennessee’s 7:17.93. Kudos to coxswain Reese Dibiase for keeping the boat calm and pushing through the middle 1k, and to Nora Goodwillie, Lily Moore, Julia Doss, and Paloma Sequeira for executing beautifully.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the genuine hospitality shown by the Tennessee team, who hosted breakfast on Saturday morning for both teams. And, on a lighter note, we're told the team also learned that free spray tans in Oak Ridge actually don't always turn out as expected!
