2025 V. OKLAHOMA, TEXAS (WOMEN)
RESULTS
Stanford Rowing delivered a weekend of high-stakes competition, marked by a statement victory in Austin, a learning opportunity at home, and a looming rivalry showdown on the horizon.
Before the recap, please make sure you tune into the Big Row this coming weekend for both the Stanford Men and Women (Openweight). If you’re an alum living in the area or happen to be here traveling, we’d love for you to come in-person to Redwood Shores. It is has become a tradition for Big Row to also be Senior Day, where a lot of families come to town, so we’re working to build it as a marquee in-person event.
Senior families, parents, coaches and fellow team members are celebrating their graduating student athletes at the boathouse after the racing, and will be doing dinners honoring them in the evening. The Rowing Association would like to thank our graduating student athletes for all the hard work and dedication it takes to compete at the highest levels of our sport. We look forward to making this a perennial special day to celebrate our senior team members.
For the race itself, if you can’t come there in person, you can livestream on OVERNGHT (low monthly subscription required – cancellation is easy). Note that OVERNGHT also is the official streaming partner for IRAs as well as the Women’s Sprints, where the Lightweight Women will be competing this coming weekend – lots of rowing to watch on this service.
Women's Rowing: Cardinal Seize #1 Spot After Sweeping Texas
Stanford Women's Rowing turned heads at the Longhorn Invitational, sweeping all NCAA Championships scoring races against then-#1 Texas. The Cardinal's Varsity Eight edged out the Longhorns by nearly six seconds, finishing in 6:32.659 to Texas' 6:38.091, with the Canadian National Team trailing at 6:50.255. Strong starts set the tone early, with Stanford leading by nearly two seconds in the Varsity Eight at the halfway point, and by even larger margins in the other events.
This dominant performance propelled Stanford to the top of the latest Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll, overtaking Texas for the #1 national ranking. The Cardinal also claimed the top spot in the latest cMax rankings, which provide a speed-based model across all Division I programs.
The win solidified Stanford's position as a top national contender as the postseason approaches.
