CLASSES OF ’75—’78 REUNITE TO ROW . . . AGAIN! 33 OARSMEN CONVENE IN SEATTLE

Coach Scherr and Coach Dreissegacker’s ‘75—’78 crews recently jumped in boats for a couple of days, rowing out of the Pocock Center in Seattle.

Their crew’s 50-year, post-Farm timeline:

Summer 1975

Mark Grosenbaugh ‘75, Sam Francis ‘75, Hank Koerner ‘75 and Dick Bailey ‘76 headed to Princeton to train and challenge for the US National Team entry in the Lightweight Straight Four. They ultimately ended up competing at the Canadian Henley.

September 2013

After losing Grosenbaugh to cancer, the remaining 3 travelled to Seattle from as far away as Tahiti to train briefly before racing in the 5.6K Row for the Cure that Fall in honor of Mark.

August 2015

The Class of ‘75 gathered for a 40th reunion in Tahoe and questioned if they could put an eight together for the next October's Tail of the Lake in Seattle. Importantly, were there enough guys committed to prepare physically? In August 2016, 11 guys showed up for a “summer training camp” that Koerner organized out of the Pocock Rowing Center.

For their 50th reunion, the Class of ’75 decided to go bigger and bring more of their senior-year boathouse together. In total, 33 rowers from ‘75—’78 convened in Seattle for 2 days of rowing and general catching up.
